Fifty Shades of Felt

I am a wife, mother and nanna I live with my husband and my two little four legged besties along the coast just outside Carnforth in North Lancashire.

I have lived here for many years and love the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside and spectacular Morecambe Bay sunsets. I’m also lucky to live just a 30 minute drive from the beautiful scenic Lake District.

Would I have classed myself as an artist before I ventured down this career path? Not in my wildest dreams.

I have always worked in various admin roles in different settings and only ever dreamt of running my own business.

Happily I was introduced to the craft of needle felting and really enjoyed the process of creating 3D crafts. I stumbled across and online course to learn how to create 2D needle felt dog portraits.

WOW – I was hooked and found I was actually very good at it.

So began my new business venture creating 2D Needle Felt Pictures and Portraits in August 2020.

Pets Animals Birds and Landscapes of any kind are where my passions lie and so I decided this would be the path I would take and specialise in.

I create Wool Paintings and Portraits, alongside the items in my shop I also take commissions from customers who would like a forever keepsake of their beloved pet or favourite animal or bird or a landscape that holds special memories.

My speciality lies in creating beautiful, bespoke, lifelike pictures/portraits. My portraits are available either framed in a wooden hoop or a traditional frame.

I also create special occasion cards and will be expanding my range to include Collections such as Garden Birds, British Wildlife etc.

Needle felting is the art of painting with wool fibres. Using a backing fabric of either linen, felt or wool I create the picture building up very fine layers of wool fibres and using a barbed needle to secure in place.

Multiple colours are used to build up depth, shadows and shine to give a realistic look. I am passionate about the work I create and it gives me enormous pleasure to know my work takes pride of place in peoples homes.

I have truly found my vocation in life as an artist and a creator and the pleasure it gives me being able to create beautiful things for other people means everything.
